1.13.2020 "He Gave Us This World"🌎

Have you ever been in a moment where you realize how much you really love someone and realized the amount you have sacrificed for them?
I did that last week for Rose! I see her as my "spirit animal". Rose is who I am on the inside and who I strive to become! I can't even tell you how much she has consumed my thoughts during the past 2 months trying to help her and love her and sacrifice for her. She is one step away from deciding to be baptized, but because of so many different pressures and different things (that she doesn't exactly prefer!)-- She knows it is true, she's just stubborn.
We were talking about letting people go in our correlation meeting and Brother Walther said that sometimes we see in other people what is in ourselves! I see that Rose is stubborn, and I know I am stubborn, so I have something to work on for sure since we let her go into the hands of the Lord!
Never in a million years would I think SHE would not accept the Restored Gospel!

Zone Conference was this week and wow-- was it a learning curve! We did a lot of teaching demos in front of some other companionships! We invited people to participate in ordinances! What a beautiful thing! The key was to ask questions, and ask the people what they desired, and what goals they have in their life and how they feel about certain situations! Then we invite them to an ordinance or something that the church offers from callings, and offering service, to temple sealings, baby blessings, and baptisms!

Something so cool that sister Thomas was able to do this week was:  I asked her to say a name, any name that she thought of in the count of 5. I went 1, 2, 3, 4, 5! I kept doing it till she said someone. She said "Curtis!" We just met a friend of a friend named Curtis, so we went to that house and Philip, his friend's dad was there! Curtis wasn't, but we shared a powerful message with Philip about the Savior and what he can do to make the Savior proud of him and how he can show his love to Him! It was beautiful!

We were on exchanges! Wow these Sisters are amazing! I love them to death! Sister Makoni and Sister Pohahau! Sister Pohahau and I were about to go teach Courtney! And we received a message from Courtney saying that she listened to the books of Moses and Abraham (in the Pearl of Great Price) on her trip and also recently listened to the October 2019 Women's session of General Conference! She loved President Nelson's talk about how we as women can have those Spiritual Treasures!
Before going to her lesson I asked sister Pohahau about how she has felt the spirit through out her life! She shared with me a really powerful story that was really touching! I didn't know why I exactly asked her those questions while we were knocking on some doors before going to the lesson, but I did. And it brought so many good things!
We were in her lesson, talking about the Spirit, inviting Courtney if she would want to receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost and I turn and look to sister Pohahau (this being her 3rd week out in the field) and I said "She shared with me an experience recently that was really powerful! Do you want to share that?" She shared her story and her dealings with the spirit in her life and Courtney was touched to share an experience with the spirit that she has had! The Spirit was without a doubt THERE! I love being able to recognize the Spirit in my life!

Speaking of Inspired questions, we saw our friend Christina again. I have only met her once and it was already a month or two ago! We kept asking her questions about herself and she opened right up to us! She was the sweetest woman ever, that has gone through a lot in her life and she has really changed her life around! She strengthened my testimony of Jesus Christ so much! We invited her to come to an activity with the women to be able to really experience a family in the community and make it so that she is able to impact women! We said that she could be a part of the people helping in our Addiction Recovery Program!
We had a lesson and helped Anaya set a date for Baptism and to receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost! She was sitting on the ground really thinking about Jesus Christ, if He were here, and what He has done for us! We had just finished reading 3 Nephi, Chapter 11 where he comes and visits the people in America! She said, "I am so grateful for Him... He gave us this World!"
I said, "He sure did Anaya, and He has so much more to give you and the gift of the Holy Ghost is one of the things He wants to bless you with!"
My heart and spirit were changed from that moment forward. This kid needs to be baptized and receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost!

Remember that younger children are our Heavenly Fathers example to us on a day to day basis!
Learn from them, ask them inspired and open ended questions! His spirit will pour out to you!

Siempre el Amor,
Sister Chaffin
